About seven months after its disastrous launch, DICE’s Battlefield 2042 will see its first Season going live in June. New details are reportedly coming by June 8th; in the meantime, the developer has outlined what to expect in terms of progression. Player progression is pretty much staying the same with any XP earned going towards progressing this Season’s Battle Pass.

Events are also coming that will provide even more ways to earn XP. The Battle Pass offers Free and Premium tracks with all gameplay content – like new Specialists, weapons, vehicles and so on – being free. You’ll need to progress through the 100 tiers to unlock it all. Any content missed in this Season can be unlocked later.

While the Free track only gets 30 out of 100 rewards, Premium Battle Pass owners get all of them. Cosmetics like Player Card Backgrounds, skins, weapon charms and takedowns are included along with Battlefield Currency. Various Weekly Missions with different objectives allow for progressing faster. Alternatively, you can spend 150 Battlefield Currency for a Tier Skip.

As the name implies, Battlefield Currency is the premium currency acquired by spending real money. You can earn it from some of the Free tiers but the Premium track has the most. It’s only used for cosmetics, item bundles and the Premium Battle Pass – no gameplay advantages. This Season also sees the launch of the in-game Store that will be updated regularly with new skins.

Stay tuned for more details on Season One (confirmed to have only one new map) in the coming days. Battlefield 2042 is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S.
