Destiny 2 is changing in many ways with its next expansion, The Edge of Fate, especially in customizing difficulty across the board. However, there are also World Tiers. As project lead Ben Fabric explained in a new Developer Insights video (which also provides more context on The Emissary’s role), there are four tiers – Brave, Legendary, Fabled, and Mythic.
The first two are available immediately, while the latter require finishing the campaign. As with The Portal, higher tiers grant better rewards, though you need to contend with modifiers (like heavily shielded and more aggressive combatants). You’ll have to contend with higher-power enemies and even Banes, but better rewards and new secrets are revealed.
For example, Fabled grants Tier 2 Engrams, while Mythic offers Tier 3 Engrams and the maximum reward multiplier. However, the difficulty is akin to an Exotic mission or Master Nightfall. Whether that’s up to your speed or not, it allows for optimizing the Patrol experience to better transition into the endgame.
Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate launches on July 15th for consoles and PC.
