Alex Hutchinson, who served as the creative director at Ubisoft for Assassin’s Creed 3 and Far Cry 4, has announced that he’s left Ubisoft Montreal.

The announcement was made on Twitter, where Hutchinson said, “So! I left Ubisoft after 7 years. Extremely proud of all we achieved on Far Cry and Assassins but very excited to build something new.”

Hutchinson also revealed that he was starting a new company called Typhoon Studios with former EA Montreal producer Reid Schneider. While the developer currently doesn’t have anything to announce, Hutchinson did say that along with establishing the studio, they were, “hard at work imagining a brand new world to inflict on all of you, so stay tuned.”

While Far Cry saw an update with last year’s Far Cry Primal, Assassin’s Creed has been silent since 2015’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.

Ubisoft has indicated that the next big game in the franchise – rumoured to be set in Egypt and named Assassin’s Creed Empire – would be out by 2017 end.
