While Rockstar Games focuses on Grand Theft Auto 6, rumors have circulated about Red Dead Redemption 2 receiving a current-gen update and a Switch 2 release. The news could be announced as soon as this week, judging from voice actor Rob Wiethoff’s latest Twitch stream.
Wiethoff, known for portraying John Marston in both games, said that he had “such exciting news,” which he unfortunately couldn’t share “right now.” However, it will be announced “definitely before Friday” of this week, and Wiethoff “cannot wait” for fans to know. If this seems out of nowhere, Wiethoff said it’s the “only thing I can think about right now,” especially since he was playing Red Dead Redemption 1.
These versions are reportedly launching in late Summer or early Fall, and based on Wiethoff’s estimate of the announcement date, it could be the former. Perhaps there’s more to look forward to alongside the current-gen update and Switch 2 version? We’ll have to wait and see.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. It was launched in 2018 and is considered one of the best video games ever made, having sold over 74 million units to date.
