Gearbox Entertainment dropped several new details for Borderlands 4 during its dedicated State of Play. It outlines two new Vault Hunters – Vex the Siren and Rafa the Exo-Soldier. The former utilizes phase energy in various ways, including summoning minions (like the familiar Trouble), while the latter’s experimental armor allows for creating weapons like Arc Knives.
As with Borderlands 3, players can select one of three Action Skills for a Vault Hunter alongside skill trees. Gearbox promises the “most advanced skill tree system yet” with augments and capstone abilities for empowering Action Skills. The passives also allow an “incredibly wide variety of distinctly powerful builds.”
There are also Traits for each Vault Hunter that enhance their playstyles. With Vex, the element of your Action Skill will change depending on the gun. You could thus swap Trouble’s damage to fire, electricity or ice, depending on the situation, as long as you equip the corresponding elemental weapon.
Borderlands 4 will be available on September 12th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out more details on the world or here for the new weapon manufacturers and loot changes.
