Game Overview:
Borderlands 4 is a first-person looter shooter RPG developed by Gearbox Entertainment and published by 2K.
Players will once again play as a Vault Hunter, with the game being set on a brand-new planet.
Gearbox's Randy Pitchford didn't confirm whether the Switch 2 version of its looter shooter would launch alongside other platforms.
Gearbox Entertainment will dive deeper into the combat, exploration, Vault Hunters and Action Skills in an upcoming State of Play.
“You will have a date soon, and then all will become clear,” said Take-Two Interactive's Strauss Zelnick regarding the looter shooter.
Gearbox's Anthony Nicholson also teases "new traversal mechanics" in the looter shooter, which "encourage and reward exploration."
The developer is also looking "to create exciting moments when a rare weapon, item, or something altogether unexpected drops."
"The term comes with a lot of baggage that doesn’t apply," says Randy Pitchford, who previously said it's "larger than anything we've ever done."
PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players will be able to play co-op with each other, Gearbox Entertainment boss Randy Pitchford has confirmed.
Set on a new planet, Kairos, players get caught in a brewing war between Queen Callius's Rippers and the Timekeeper's Order.
Set on Kairos, players must go against The Timekeeper and a "world-altering catastrophe" in the "most ambitious" Borderlands yet.
Gearbox's Randy Pitchford will also be present at The Game Awards on December 12th to showcase a "lot" of in-game footage.

Both games were previously announced with 2025 release windows, and are in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The leaker who previously claimed Borderlands 4 will be announced at the event is no longer sure that will be the case, while Civilization 7 was recently spotted on 2K's official website.
2K has previously confirmed that it will unveil the next instalment in one if its "biggest and most beloved" franchises at the event.

Both sequels have made good progress, though the mood at Gearbox is uncertain following layoffs, hiring freezes and whatnot.
Both titles – currently unannounced – have been mentioned on a former Gearbox Entertainment employee's LinkedIn page.
