Following the cancellation of The Last of Us standalone multiplayer title, Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann revealed that the studio had “more than one ambitious, brand new single-player game” in development. Of course, the studio revealed Intergalactic, a new sci-fi title, at The Game Awards 2024.
Other single-player projects have seemingly been in the works but according to insider DanielRPK on Patreon, one was cancelled recently. Helmed by Vinit Agarwal, previously director of the online title, it was reportedly in development for more than a year and still in the early stages. He would subsequently leave Naughty Dog.
However, another single-player title has allegedly been in development for around three years and is led by Shaun Escayg of Marvel’s Avengers fame. No further details are known, though it could be the Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune remake rumored last year.
In the meantime, Intergalactic is coming to PS5 and doesn’t have a release date. As for The Last of Us, Druckmann said in March that the second game may very well be the end of the road. Head here for more details.
